Mukadderat

Mukadderat is a 2024 comedy-drama film directed by Nadim Güç and written by Erdi Işık, starring Nur Sürer, Aslıhan Gürbüz, and Osman Sonant. The film won three Golden Orange awards at the 2024 Golden Orange Film Festival, including Best Film, Best Actress, and Best Supporting Actor. With her performance in the film, Nur Sürer won the Golden Orange for Best Actress for the third time, following her wins in 1982 and 1989. This makes her the most decorated actress in that category after Hülya Koçyiğit and Türkan Şoray. This story, set in the quiet, rural life of Cide, follows the courageous struggle of Sultan, whose life is turned upside down by the sudden death of her husband. Fearing loneliness, Sultan wants to remarry quickly, but she faces opposition from her children and the traditional values of her small town. Sultan doesn't give up; instead, she becomes an entrepreneur who transforms not only her own life but also the lives of the women around her. With the guesthouse she opens, she provides jobs for women, ventures into commerce with the products she grows in her garden, and shakes the prejudices of the townspeople. Sultan's story powerfully illustrates one woman's courage to forge a new path for herself and the strength of solidarity.
